“The 2000 renovation of this Upper West Side station produced one of the most immersive art experiences in the system: 'For Want of a Nail,' a collaboration between MTA Arts & Design and the American Museum of Natural History. Platforms are blanketed in glass and ceramic mosaics of extinct and living animals (extinct species shown in grey), bronze fossil casts emerging from walls, and stairwell mosaics depicting the ocean and outer space. It's a complete prehistoric adventure before you even enter the museum.”
